The shapes chosen for the vessels are based on clean and simple lines in order to emphasize the applied contamination on the surface.
Both series are “common” drinking vessels, for the need of being familiar and recognizable shapes.
They symbolize everyday objects, everyday drinking glasses.

We may don’t reflect on it, but most of what we use the most in our daily life comes from far away and “contaminates” us.

Experiments and trial are produced during the all process to the final products in order to achieve the desired result. Every and each experiment is precious, valued and chance of reflection.
From here the desire of working, possibly, on two different series of drinking vessels, one made in porcelain and one made in glass.

The reason for using two different bases, ceramic and glass, is due to their intrinsic characteristics and their different way of expression.
Underline the contrast from the clean and pure glass and the dust/contamination and the, probably more harmonic, fusion of porcelain with dust/contamination.
The feelings and the visual effects of the two series should be different even if linked to the same concept.

The project developed is a critical reflection on long distance/multiple places goods shipments and their effect on the environment and, as a direct consequence, on us.
Transports produce dust, longer is the distance to be covered greater is the amount of dust produced.
Goods are often transported from very distant places for different reasons and, as transports have an impact on the environment, indirectly do the objects we use.

We are contaminated through/from the objects we use.

Contaminated objects.
From this prospective matures the choice to transfer the contamination directly on the objects, where longer is the distance covered for their transport greater is their contamination.
Further reflection is conduct on the contrast between visible and invisible contamination. When the contamination is visible, its existence becomes obvious, while when invisible its existence may be ignored. What we can see is more obvious than what we can’t see but it doesn’t mean that it is more important.
For example some dust particles may dissolve in water contaminating it and becoming invisible to the eye.
We may not see it (or perceive it in an obvious way) but we are drinking contaminated water.

Things are transported everyday from a place to an other, the way they are transported or simply moved changes depending on distance, possibilities, needs...
Logistics seem to be a very organized iter of consecutive steps, a complex plan that make possible to move things from a place to other places where they are required for some reasons.

Rushing.
Often I imagine logistics as a smooth process where each action has a following one that fits perfectly with the one before, a sort of perfect clock where silently things work and products arrive “magically” to the final destination/user.
On the other hand I imagine each step of the process to be very frenetic and quick. Objects move fast trough all the logistics steps to make the all logistic machine working.

It doesn’t matter if the object is valuable or not or the way chosen for the transport, it will be always in close contact with dust and it would always be contaminated and contaminating in some way

Everything is contaminated!
We live in a time where everything is contaminated.
Cultures, traditions, food, art, design, music...environment, water...
Contamination is many things and can be interpreted as a positive or negative phenomenon. We can find contamination probably in everything, it is present in all its aspects in our daily life and it is definitely a contemporary reality.
Transports have spur people to move, travel, mix, blend and contaminate each other. The same happens for goods and objects in general, moving from any place to any other place in the world, interacting with habits, cultures and traditions and leading to new contaminated realities.

This burning entropy, cause from transports (but not only) boost changes in everything: people, environment, objects...
Such changes may be good or bad, obvious or not.

*Objects live, experience and change. What is produced is not always what gets to the final user.

Experiencing and exploring ceramics.

This is a work in progress experiment about ceramics...we'll see what happens!

Some thoughts as a starting point.

Objects are produced in a place and transported in an other place to be sold or, in general, used.
During the transport they live, experience and eventually change.
The project would be about the development of the concept of evolution, trough experience, of objects.
The aim is to try to trap some of these “experiences” due to contamination, interaction and involvement of the objects with the environment during the transport.

Objects interacts between each other while transported from place to place.

They feel each other and the space around them and try to adapt. Their shapes change gradually, organically and harmonically.

Objects change due to direct contact with each other and tying, contact during transports, in fact, is often driven by the way they are secured and tight to each other.

Table Pebbles are spice holders!

A Pebble can be used alone, but is meant to be used as part of a group of Pebbles. Like pebbles of a river they are of different sizes and shapes and, depending on the way they are placed, make different visual impacts.
Spices are airy and colourful and lie gracefully on the pebbles. Due to their organic shapes and the transparency of clear glass the light plays gently with the spices showing nice colour marks and fascinating light effects on the table.
The pebbles float naturally around the table integrating with all kind of different contexts: from the exotic Indian dinner, the elegant French wine tasting to the most continental English breakfast.

Liders! They are fun...unscrew the lid and clean them from the bottom as well! :)

Liders come from recycled glass containers.
Their beauty is in their simplicity: just a cut! :)
The lid of the container becomes the colorful foot of the glass and can be unscrewed to ease the cleaning of the glass.

The idea comes from a thought on nature, its ever pushing life blood and its way of being always diverse and surprising, adapting to any environment and be simply beautiful.

Water is one of nature's most important gifts, what makes Earth to seem unique among the other known celestial bodies.
In ancient cultures water represented the very essence of life and has played a role not only in the history of countries, but in religion, mythology and art. Essential to life and so discrete that people sometime seem to forget about its importance.
Apples, fruits associate with love, beauty, luck, health, wisdom, temptation and sexuality since the most traditional stories and sayings.
Fruits so charming in their shapes and colours and so involving in their natural simplicity.

“Water the apples” is a way to remind people how simple, beautiful and essential is nature and its expressions.
Water, so unique and essential for everyone life and apples so diverse and beautiful in their shapes, colours and gestuality.

Like apples are different in shapes and colours so we are, it is all about nature!

Water the apples: multiple ways mould.

“Water the apples” is a family of drinking glasses inspired by apple shapes.
Different apples for different hands so that drinking would be as natural and comfortable as possible.

The intent was then to develop a mould able be blown in different ways and give different glasses. The mould is thought to be made of three pieces: 2 pieces for the main body and a plug for the bottom.
The main body of the mould is open on both sides allowing to be blown in two different ways. The use of a removable plug is a further solution that enables to have many different variations by changing only a small piece of the mould.
